The 2014 METROsquash Windy City Open presented by Guggenheim & EquiTrust Life Insurance Company features a professional sanctioned tournament that will attract 28 world class squash professionals, all vying for one of the most well-known titles in North America. The Windy City Open was first held in 1981 as a hardball game, when the Illinois Squash Association decided it was time for Chicago to get on the Pro Tour bandwagon. In the 90s, The Windy City Open changed to the international softball game and has since continued to be an exciting feature in the international professional squash calendar, having featured former World Champions Peter Nicol, Jonathan Power and Amr Shabana amongst its competitors.
The Windy City Open is also proud to link up with METROsquash for the fourth time. Chicago's urban enrichment program, METROsquash, uses squash to help transform the lives of children through a rigorous academic and service programme.
