Elshorbagy Reaches Hong Kong Final To Reclaim World No.1 Spot

Mohamed Elshorbagy kept alive his hopes of retaining the Cathay Pacific Sun Hung Kai Financial Hong Kong Open title by dismissing compatriot Omar Mosaad in the semi-finals of the PSA World Series tournament, regaining his place as the World No.1 in the process.

Elshorbagy fell to a disappointing third round exit at the World Championships last week, where Mosaad finished runner-up, which cost him his place as World No.1 after a 13-month streak but he played with composure and precision to halt Mosaad’s charge and return to the summit of the World Rankings.

The powerhouse Egyptian came through a gruelling 102-minute match to line up against Elshorbagy and the effects of his gargantuan exploits, paired with his run at the World Championship, caught up with him as Elshorbagy cantered to glory in 39-minutes.
