Omar Mosaad will head the 2016 Canary Wharf Classic draw
World Championship Finalist Mosaad To Headline 2016 Canary Wharf Classic
2015 World Championship and Delaware Investments U.S. Open runner-up Omar Mosaad, the powerful Egyptian in the midst of his most successful season on tour, will top the draw when the 2016 Canary Wharf Classic, PSA M70 tournament gets under way in London’s East Wintergarden on Monday March 7.
World No.4 Mosaad will be aiming to triumph in what would be one of the biggest tournament victories of his career but with the likes of World No.7 Simon Rösner, World No.10 Mathieu Castagnet and a trio of Egyptian compatriots in the form of unorthodox shot-making talent Mazen Hesham, World No.11 Marwan Elshorbagy and the enigmatic Fares Dessouki, Mosaad will have to come through a highly competitive field.

Seven of the 16-strong draw are currently ranked within the world’s top 15, a list that includes England’s former World No.1 James Willstrop and former World No.9 Daryl Selby, while Spanish former World No.5 Borja Golan adds further experience to the world class draw.
The most notable absentee from the 2016 draw will be five-time champion Nick Matthew, the 35-year-old Englishman who will miss the tournament for the first time since 2008 due to other commitments.
“The quality of the draw this year is once again outstanding and continues to showcase the Canary Wharf Classic as a favourite stop for the most established names and up-and-coming talents on the circuit,” said event director Tim Garner.
“It comes as no surprise that the event was sold out months in advance and we anticipate another incredible week inside East Wintergarden and I know that the fans who have purchased their tickets in advance are going to be in for a real treat on tournament week.
“This is our 13th year of running the Canary Wharf Classic and it continues to go from strength to strength and I’m relishing the prospect of seeing it all get underway on March 7.”
