World No.12 Sarah-Jane Perry overcame Hong Kong's Annie Au in the quarter-final of the Cleveland Classic, PSA W50 event to secure a hard-fought 3-1 victory and reach the last four.
The Englishwoman started well and, after a period of domination, sailed into a two-game lead.
A third game revival from Au threw some uncertainty into the mix but Perry responded by moving up a gear to wrap up an 11-8, 11-4, 3-11, 11-7 victory.
The number five seed has a difficult semi-final fixture in store next against title favourite Camille Serme. The World No.5 was in fine fettle against Joshna Chinappa and, a second game defeat aside, prevailed in a fairly routine win.
Elsewhere, Alison Waters and Amanda Sobhy have set up a repeat of their recent J.P. Morgan Tournament of Champions quarter-final clash after they rose to respective wins over Dipika Pallikal and Olivia Blatchford. Sobhy won the pair’s last meeting in New York and, after overtaking Waters in this month’s world rankings, will be hoping for a similar result in Pepper Pike.
