Tarek Momen is one step away from a maiden Swedish Open final

Sweden Update: Swashbuckling Momen Becomes First Semi-Finalist

Egypt’s Tarek Momen secured a place in his second ever UCS Swedish Open semi-final after triumphing over Frenchman Lucas Serme in the last eight stage of the 2016 instalment of the PSA M70 event.

Momen came out on top of an opening game that was full of flair and industry from both players as they sought to seize the initiative in the fixture’s early exchanges. Serme, who shocked Fares Dessouki in the previous round, did well to mount a strong comeback towards the end of the game but Momen held on to go a game to the good.

“Winning in three games is a big bonus for me today so I’m happy with that. I watched his match with Fares live so I had to figure out what the best way was to beat him today. I was in contact with my coach back home, we discussed a few plans and I started executing this from the very beginning and it paid off.”
