WindyCity Update: David Downs Perry 3-0

Malaysian Nicol David secured a second consecutive straight-games victory at the 2016 Windy City open as she dismissed the challenge of England’s Sarah-Jane Perry after 31-minutes at the University Club of Chicago today.

The Windy City Open title has remained illusive for the former World No.1 throughout what has been one of the most glittering careers in all of world sport but her performances so far this week seem to signal a return to her very best form and the court-dominance that saw her occupy the World No.1 slot of nine consecutive years.

Perry at times looked capable of causing David difficulty but couldn’t put together back-to-back points when it mattered most as David used her experience, athleticism and determination when most needed to secure the win 11-6, 11-9, 11-5 in a business like victory.

“I’m very pleased with my performances so far in the tournament and hopefully I will play as well as I did today in the next round,” said David.

“Sarah-Jane is very technical and holds the ball well so I had to make sure not to make anything easy today and play a good tough game.”
