Nour El Sherbini set up a rematch of January’s J.P. Morgan Tournament of Champions final with American World No.7 Amanda Sobhy following a clinical display against Liu Tsz- Ling in today’s second round encounter.
El Sherbini reigned supreme in New York and the Egyptian highlighted her meticulous preparation as the key ingredient for any potential success here in Hull.
“I feel ready after an intense week of training to come here and be well prepared for such a prestigious tournament,” said El Sherbini.
“I love coming here and I think I will have a good time.”
The fourth seed certainly had a good time on court as she cruised to victory in the first game courtesy of an 11-3 scoreline and, despite a brief comeback from the Hong Kong player, she stamped her authority on proceedings in the second game to go 2-0 up.
Many would be forgiven for thinking that the Egyptian would wrap the match up 3-0 however, Tsz-Ling had other ideas as she fought back admirably to take the third game 11-6.
The qualifier from Hong-Kong was determined to cause an upset, but normal service was resumed in the fourth with an almost perfect performance from El Sherbini to win 11-1.
