Lee Ka Yi Comes Through Lui Clash to Reach Final of Women’s Contrex Challenge Cup

#PSAWorldTour

Defending champion Lee Ka Yi overturned a 2-1 deficit to defeat local player Bubble Lui in the semi-final stage of the Women’s Contrex Challenge Cup, PSA W5 tournament – ensuring she will take on Malaysia’s Andrea Lee in the final.

Lee Ka Yi, who defeated Ho Tze-Lok in last year’s final, was odds on favourite to beat Lui but found herself a game behind after the third and staring down the barrel of an unlikely defeat.

But she responded with a tenacious performance and improved the consistency of her game to take the next two games and close out an extremely hard-fought victory with a 7-11, 11-4, 9-11, 11-8, 11-6 scoreline enabling her to advance to her second PSA World Tour final.

Andrea Lee also had to dig in during her semi-final fixture with Zoe Foo Yuk Han after initially letting a one-game lead slip, but she recovered to triumph 3-1.
