Home hero Saurav Ghosal will meet Switzerland’s Nicolas Mueller in the final of the Vedanta Indian Squash Open in Mumbai later today.
Ghosal, the tournament top seed, came through his semi-final encounter with Greg Lobban of Scotland in straight games to continue his confident run on home soil while Mueller, who impressed during the Tournament of Champions in January, recorded a steely 3-1 win over England’s Chris Simpson to book his place in the title-decider.
“It was tough match, Greg’s a very accomplished player and I think he has done very well in last 2 or few years to come back,” aid Ghosal.
“I had a certain plan and I executed that plan. Winning 3-0 against someone of the pedigree of Greg is a good result any day of the week so I’ll take that and hopefully play well tomorrow.”
After his win Mueller said: “It was a very tough match and I was one down and then won the second and I think the third game was crucial.
“I then got off to a good start in the fourth which was important, that early lead that made a difference.”
