Egypt’s World Champion Nour El Sherbini secured a safe passage through to the quarter finals of the CIB Black Ball Squash Open after she defeated compatriot and World No.20 Nadine Shahin, 3-0.
The two players had faced each other twice before, with El Sherbini taking the victory on both occasions, and the four-time World Champion ensured she kept up that 100 per cent record as she dispatched Shahin in 11-2, 11-6, 11-5 in 20 minutes.
El Sherbini, who battled through injury and the flu last week to win the Windy City Open title, will face France’s Coline Aumard in the quarter finals.
“Nadine had been playing really well from the start of the tournament,” said El Sherbini afterwards.
“You can see that when she has the opportunity, she kills any shot and she’s very fast to get everything back. I had to make sure that my shots were very good to make sure she doesn’t get them back.
“I feel better than I did in Chicago last week. I had to go through the flu and coming back from injury to take the win, and in a perfect world, I would need a little time to recover. But still, I feel so much better than in Chicago, so that's helps.
“We’re getting into the serious rounds now and I’m going to prepare like I do for every match and hopefully I’ll prepare well and be ready.”
