Egypt's Mohamed ElShorbagy and Nour El Sherbini have been named the PSA World Tour Players of the Month for May following their El Gouna International wins.
World No.2 ElShorbagy produced a stellar run at the tournament that resulted in him claiming his first PSA Platinum title since the COVID enforced suspension of the Tour.
ElShorbagy took out the likes of Wales' Joel Makin and compatriot Fares Dessouky before axing New Zealand's Paul Coll in straight-games in the final to lift the coveted title and the 43rd PSA title of his career.
That win means he has cut the gap to current World No.1 Ali Farag as he looks to climb back to the top of the men's World Rankings.
World No.1 El Sherbini takes the women’s accolade, after she impressed once again on the big stage to add the El Gouna International title to her ever-growing collection.
The Egyptian fought past England’s No.1 Sarah-Jane Perry and compatriot Hania El Hammamy to reach the final, before overcoming World No.2 Nouran Gohar in straight-games.
That win was El Sherbini’s third Platinum title of the season following her CIB Egyptian Open and CIB Black Ball Open victories and she now sits joint-ninth on the all time women’s winners list, alongside Raneem El Welily, as they become the joint most successful Egyptian women to ever play the sport.
