Pontefract Ladies Challenger 2: Tournament Preview

Pontefract Squash and Leisure Club plays host to a Challenger Tour event for the second time this week, with the Pontefract Ladies 3k Challenger 2 taking place from Friday 18 to Sunday 20 June.

Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, only players currently residing in the United Kingdom have been allowed to play. Despite that, six nations will be represented, in England, Finland, Italy, Netherlands, Pakistan and Wales.

World No.28 Emily Whitlock will be the top seed for the event, and the Welshwoman will be the favourite to take home the title come Sunday afternoon. Anna Kimberley, Alicia Mead and Pakistan’s Faiza Zafar make up the rest of the top four seeds.

One to watch this weekend with be Englishwoman Georgina Kennedy. The World No.170 took her maiden PSA title on Wednesday evening at the Sumner Malik Memorial, and will be aiming to win twice in five days.
