Challenger Tour Weekly Preview: Action From England and Russia

There are three events on the Challenger Tour this week, with two of those taking place on English soil, while Russia hosts the other.

Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, all three tournaments are running with entry restrictions, all of which allow domestic entrants only.

The week starts off with the two English events, before action from Moscow takes place over the weekend.

Carlisle Squash Club PSA Open
The first tournament of the week on the Challenger Tour is the Carlisle Squash Club PSA Open, a Challenger 5 level event which begins on Tuesday 20 July.

The event takes place at Carlisle Squash Club, where Scotland’s Rory Stewart will be the top seed. He, along with compatriots Fergus Richards, Alasdair Prott and Chris Leiper, and Welshman Elliott Morris Devred, will all be aiming to win on English soil this week.

Arion Homes Off the Wall Squash Open
The second event taking place in England begins on Thursday 22 July at Ipswich Sports Club, the Arion Homes Off the Wall Squash Open.

The event will host both men’s and women’s draws, with 32 players aiming to take home the Challenger 5 titles come Saturday afternoon. Six top 100 ranked women will be in action, including Lily Taylor, Ali Loke and Georgia Adderley, all of whom participated in the World Championships in Chicago.

Englishman Daryl Selby will be the top seed for the men’s event, with compatriots Charlie Lee and Joshua Masters, along with Portugal’s Rui Soares, as his closest competitors for the crown.

PSA Moscow Tour
The final event of the week takes place over the weekend, with the PSA Moscow Tour being played from Saturday 24 to Sunday 25 July.

The tournament will be held at Squash Club Moscow, with Russian No.1 Vladislav Titov as the No.1 seed. Ukrainian No.1 Valeriy Fedoruk will be hi main rival for the title.
