Sam Todd takes POTM after impressive Berkhamsted and Pontefract wins.

England’s Sam Todd and Spain’s Marta Dominguez Fernandez have been named the PSA Challenger Tour Players of the Month for August.

Todd, 18, finished runner up to top seed Ben Coleman at the Berkhamsted Open, with a highlight being his 3-1 win over No.2 seed Rui Soares in the semi final.

He followed this up with a hugely impressive win in the Pontefract Men’s Challenger. Throughout the tournament, No.6 seed Todd dropped only one game and saw off the top three seeds en route to the title.

Fernandez (right) celebrates her Schräglage Squash Open win.

Fernandez, meanwhile, impressed in her performances in the Squash Eredvisie Speelronde 6 and the Schräglage Squash Open, which represented her first tour events.

In Speelronde 6, the unseeded 20-year-old beat No.3 seed Ambre Allinckx in the first round and top seed Milou van Der Heijden in the semi final, before losing 3-1 to No.4 seed Hannah Chukwu in the final.

Fernandez carried her form through to Germany. Once again unseeded, Fernandez beat No.3 seed Saskia Beinhard, No.6 seed Aylin Günsav and top seed Nadia Pfister on her way to the final.

This time, however, Fernandez returned the winner, downing No.2 seed Ambre Allinckx once again.
