Moscow Squash Open: Tournament Preview

The final event of this week on the Challenger Tour will be the Moscow Squash Open, which begins on Saturday 16 September at Squash Club Moscow in Russia.

The Challenger 5 level tournament features both a men’s and women’s draw, with 40 players in total aiming for glory come Tuesday evening in Moscow.

Hungary’s Farkas Balazs will be the top seed for the men’s draw, with the World No.90 facing competition from the likes of Colombia’s Juan Camilo Vargas, home favourite Vladislav Titov and Czech Republic’s David Zeman all in action.

Austria’s Jaokb Dirnberger, Frenchman Edwin Clain, Scotland’s Fergus Richards and Ukrainian No.1 Valeriy Fedoruk will also be in action in the Challenger 5 level tournament.

The women’s draw is also multi-national, with seven nationalities represented in the top eight seeds. Englishwoman Lily Taylor is the top seed, with Hungary’s Hannah Chukwu as her nearest competitor.

The German duo of Saskia Beinhard and Aylin Gunsav, along with Romanian Kincso Szasz, Ukraine’s Anastasia Kostiukova, Russia’s Varvara Esina and Egyptian Nour Megahed will all be in Moscow this week.
