Egypt’s Mazen Hesham is out of the upcoming Canary Wharf Classic due to testing positive for COVID -19.
The World No.11 was looking to follow up on his recent quarter final appearance at the Qatar Q-Terminals Classic where he was beaten by Joel Makin.
Frenchman Mathieu Castagnet moves into Hesham’s vacated position as a 9/16 seed and will face Spain’s Iker Pajares Bernabeu in the first round.
This allows Spain’s Borja Golan to move into the main draw for his ninth appearance at the Canary Wharf Classic. The 38-year-old will face Egypt’s 9/16 seed Youssef Soliman in his first-round match. The last time the pair met, it was the Spaniard who came out on top, beating his younger opponent 3-1 at the 2020 Windy City Open in Chicago.
