Lucy Turmel in action during her semi-final match in Boston

Equinox Women’s Open SF: Top Two Make Final In Five

The top two seeds for the Equinox Women’s Boston Open, in England’s Lucy Turmel and Hong Kong’s Tze Lok Ho, are both into the final after coming through their last four contests in five games.

The Englishwoman, who is the top seed for the event, and the only player in the draw inside the world’s top 25, came up against the surprise package for the event, Fayrouz Aboelkheir.

The Egyptian had already taken out two seeded players, and she took the first game as she aimed for a third successive upset. However, Turmel was able to fight back to move 2-1 up in the match. Aboelkheir fought back to send it into a decider, but the tops seed scraped through, winning the fifth 11-9 after 51 minutes of action.

She will face Hong Kong’s Tze Lok Ho in Sunday’s final at the Equinox Sports Club Boston, after the World No.41 overcame compatriot Liu Tsz-Ling in the deciding game of their semi-final contest.

After taking the first game, Ho found herself behind in the clash after losing both the second and third by an 11-9 scoreline. However, the Hong Kong No.1 was able to battle back, and she allowed her fellow countrywoman to score just eight points across the final two games, moving through to the final after a 3-2 victory.

You can watch the final live from Boston on the SZK Squash YouTube channel on Sunday.
