Vanessa Chu has proven herself one of the premiere Hong Kong players since joining the Tour.
Her first two PSA World Tour titles both came on the Malaysian Tour in May 2015 where she triumphed in both Penang and Kuala Lumpur, beating Vanessa Raj and Teh Min Jie, respectively. She also won the Mackay Open that year, before recording three runner-up finishes over the course of 2016, reaching the final of two Malaysian Tour events and the Tasmanian Open.
Chu also made the final of three tournaments in 2017 as well, doing so at the Brisbane City Squash Sandgate Open, Perrier Challenge Cup and Beijing Squash Challenge. She took her first victories outside her home nation in 2018, winning both the South Australian Open and the Melbourne Open.
Chu then took a third tournament victory in Australia in 2019, as she overcame Jessica Turnbull in the final of the City of Kalgoorlie Golden Open. She then made the final of the Roberts and Morrow North Coast Open, but missed out on the title to Aifa Azman. With her performances over the 2018-2019 campaign, Chu reached the top 50 in the World Rankings for the first time in her career.
Over the course of the 2019-2020 campaign, Chu reached at least the quarter-finals in all bar one of the tournaments entered, including the finals of the Queensland Open and the Seattle Open. She also made the last four of the Malaysian Open.
